Direction to the Stars

Today, the Czech Republic is home to four specialised university glass studios focused on design and studio glassmaking. Large numbers of design and architecture students are becoming acquainted with glass as a material. Every year, several dozen graduates head out into the world and try to establish themselves in practice. However, due to considerable competition, only a few of them succeed. For this reason, within the framework of the International Triennial of Glass and Costume Jewellery, the Directions to the Stars project aims to introduce the general public to a joint exhibition of promising artists under the age of 35, whose consistently developing glass work has the potential to succeed both at home and abroad. For the inaugural exhibition, we have chosen Miroslava Ptáčková (*1990), Tomáš Prokop (*1992) and František Jungvirt (*1996). Each artist is a graduate of a different university, they have their own distinctive styles, they are ambitious and they have the ability to follow through with their ideas.
