V. K. Novák - Still Moving - exhibition at GASK
In cooperation with the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region in Kutná Hora and Association of Friends of the Works of V. K. Novák, our curator Kateřina Nora Nováková has prepared an extensive exhibition to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of the prominent Czech sculptor and jeweller Prof. Vratislav Karel Novák (1942-2014). On the curatorial preparation and installation of the exhibition participatedy The assotiation of V. K. Nováks Friends, represented by doc. M.A. Ludmila Šikolová, lecturer at our partner institution - Technical University of Liberec. His work defies clear categorization; it transcends the boundaries of individual disciplines and thus represents a completely unique phenomenon in Czech art since the late 1960s. One of his most famous realisations is the Metronome sculpture on the Letná Plain in Prague. The exhibition will present the artist's free work in the form of geometric constructivism and kinetic objects, as well as individual jewellery. As part of GASK's long-term open-air project, Novák's monumental steel sculpture Planets - Circles will also be installed in the gallery park from the end of November 2023 in connection with the exhibition.
The exhibition will be open from 18 February - 8 September 2024.
