Original glass jewellery by Zita Lamačová - Event in the exhibition of Jewellery

Glass bead costume jewellery designer Zita Lamačová (*1967) has been professionally engaged in this traditional Jablonec assortment since 1985. She also focuses on Christmas ornaments, decorations and original semi-finished products for the hobby sector, intended primarily for customers in the USA. Her design work is characterized by the ability to use the full potential of glass beads, sensitive work with colors and strong plasticity. Natural motifs and flowers are typical for her. On her way to the profession of costume jewelry designer, she was influenced by the jeweler Libuše Hlubučková, whom she regularly met during her free time activities at the Elementary School of Art in the years 1876–1987. Her family also played a significant role, especially her father Pavel Matěna, a recognized arranger of Jablonec costume jewelry exhibitions and Liberec exhibition markets. In 1985, she successfully completed her studies at the Secondary School of Applied Arts and Glass, majoring in glass costume jewelry design. In the same year, she joined Železnobrodský skla, where she worked as a sampler until 1993.

In 1986, she already succeeded in the company round of the Best Product in the Industry competition with an original set of ceramic beads. Since 1995, she has been involved in flower arranging and interior decorations, and returned to glass beads in 2005 at the Jablonec company Glass, later Glass Motive Beads, where she collaborated with another distinctive designer, Iva Spurová. During this period, she also participated in the creation of costume jewelry for the show models of the E.Daniely Studio, created for the project of our museum Clothing and its Accessories or for models for the presentation of the Jablonex Group. In 2015 and 2016, she worked at L&S Bohemia. Since 2017, she has been designing and creating her own costume jewelry exclusively from Czech beads under the brand Design by Zita.

In 2014, her designed jewelry collection for Glass Motive Beads was awarded a medal (award from the Museum of Glass and Jewelry) at the TRENDS.DESIGN.PRODUCTION exhibition, organized as part of the International Triennial of Glass and Jewellery. In 2020 and 2023, she already exhibited under her own brand as part of this exhibition.

The exhibition is located in the permanent exposition of Jewellery until 15. 6. 2025.
