On the basis of our museum's proposal from February last year, the Ministry of Culture decided in December to register "Handmade Glass" in the List of Intangible Assets of Traditional Folk Culture of the Czech Republic.
This registration is an essential condition for the possibility of submitting a proposal for registration on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The preparation of the documentation for the joint nomination for all 6 countries (France-main coordinator, Germany, Spain, Hungary, Finland and the Czech Republic) is being finalized in these countries today. In December, a film crew from France visited the Czech Republic to shoot a part of a documentary film focused on the unique technique of hand-pulling jewelry rods (at Preciose Ornele in Desná) and on the technique of engraving and grinding glass (at Ladislav Ševčík Bohemia Crystal in Železné Brod). The application will be submitted in March and the evaluation procedure will take the whole year. Let's believe that it will be successful!
