EVENT IN EXHIBITION - MARTIN ŠTEFÁNEK
Martin Štefánek was born in 1969 in Havlíčkův Brod. From 1983 to 1987, he attended the Secondary Glass School of Art and Industry in Železný Brod, where he specialized in furnace glass shaping. Later, from 1997 to 2001, he returned to the school as a glassworks teacher. Štefánek worked in glassworks in Harrachov and Oseček during the 1980s and 1990s. In 2000, he settled permanently in the village of Desná, where he established his glass studio. Renowned for his exceptional craftsmanship and expertise, Štefánek collaborates with various glass artists, designers and companies. He also dedicates time to his own art – unique animal sculptures.
With over thirty years of experience, Martin Štefánek has worked on hundreds of types of glass materials. Through numerous experiments, he diligently explores the secrets of glass melting, rediscovering production techniques that have been partially or completely forgotten. His pursuit to master the art of glass melting is reminiscent of Friedrich Egermann, the renowned inventor from Nový Bor, whose legacy lives on 160 years after his passing.
The exhibition will last until September 22, 2024 and is located in a permanent Glass exposition.
