Karl Richard Fischer was a teacher, regional historian, mayor of the town of Jablonec nad Nisou and one of the main shapers of Jabloneck at the beginning of the 20th century. A commemorative plaque will commemorate his merits in the Jablonec museum.
In 1868, a group of Jablonec entrepreneurs, united in the Industrial Education and Support Association for Jablonec nad Nisou, decided to preserve the results of their activities for future generations. They did not stop at words, but immediately established the first collection and on March 25, 1904, opened the first permanent exhibition of the new museum. Karl R. Fischer was a co-creator of the local museum, which opened its first exhibition in 1904. This term is therefore considered to be the year of the founding of the Museum of Glass and Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou. "He then enriched his originally artistic and industrial focus with a historical and ethnographic dimension. In connection with his work in the museum committee, he published his first small regional-historical articles in the local press", said the chief museum curator Petr Nový.
This year, the museum commemorates 120 years since the opening of the first permanent exhibition. As part of the celebrations, it unveiled a bronze plaque with Fischer's portrait on Friday, December 6. "It was created in cooperation with the SUPŠ and VOŠ in Jablonec nad Nisou, the author of the proposal was the 2nd year student of the school, Alžběta Blažejová", added the director of the museum, Milada Valečková
